HEALTH
One of the key points to enjoy good health lies in the diet we follow and should be combined with certain sports routines. And, if you want to lose weight, there is no magic recipe, it is best to go to a professional. This, through a personalized study of each patient, will indicate what steps and what are the guidelines to follow in this process.
However, there are a number of foods that can serve as a complement to a good diet and exercise. These are foods that contribute to boosting certain processes that are beneficial to the body. They are referred to as superfoods. One of them are nuts, which contain a large number of antioxidants, as well as fiber and other types of bioactive substances that are highly recommended.
Of course, they should be eaten raw. Otherwise, that is, with chocolate coatings, with more salt than they already contain or with another type of seasoning, they lose all those benefits that we mentioned. There is a wide variety of fruits of this type: almonds, peanuts, hazelnuts, cashews, etc.. However, there is one that stands out from the rest for all its benefits, especially for the heart: walnuts.
It's national Walnut day. The walnut crop is more than doubled in the last 20 years. Today you can enjoy this healthy nut for the lowest price ever.Let's show walnuts some respect: they’re great for your heart and brain. #CommodityReport #Walnuts #Agriskadvisor pic.twitter.com/5yawkJW0bc
Walnuts are high in Omega 3 fatty acids. And what does this mean? They contribute to reducing inflammation and, in addition, to increasing the health of the most important organ of the circulatory system: the heart. But not only that, it also powers the reduction of LDL cholesterol —commonly known as the "bad" cholesterol—, while increasing HDL or "good" cholesterol.
The anti-inflammatory compounds that, as we saw in the previous section, helped the heart also serve to promote good health in the other most important organ in the body: the brain. These, together with the antioxidants in the walnut, enhance the proper functioning of the organ and help to prevent neurodegenerative diseases.
Another component of the walnut is calcium. This is more than beneficial for the bones and, consequently, helps reduce the chances of contracting diseases that affect them, such as osteoporosis.
Walnuts contain folic acid. It is a type of B vitamin that causes the body to generate new cells, just as occurs in hair, nails or hair. And this, which is a great ally during pregnancy, helps fight fatigue, as well as anemia and depression.
