Drug Indication/Application/Use	Telmisartan is a novel hypotensive drug, a specific angiotensin II receptor (AT type I) antagonist, for the treatment of essential hypertension. The alternative angiotensin II receptor binds with high affinity to the Chemicalbook subtype of the AT I receptor (the known site of angiotensin II action). Telmisartan has no site agonist effect at the AT I receptor site and selectively binds to the AT I receptor, and this binding is long lasting.
